Stand By Jack
The confidential Stand By Jack initiative was launched in response to the public’s lauding of Dr. Jack E. Daniels’ leadership in the South Madison area while raising critical funds to build the Madison College Goodman South Campus. The gifts from Stand By Jack support access to educational opportunities for promising low-income students in the Scholars of Promise program.
Individuals, organizations and companies have committed to both Jack’s 50 Club, a commitment of at least $50,000, and the Stand By Jack program at other levels. The total giving now exceeds $1,000,000.
Dr. Jack E. Daniels, III Community Rooms
In response to community needs on the south side of Madison, Dr. Daniels boldly led the work to build the Goodman South Campus. The Campus, which opened for classes on September 3, 2019, has been widely praised for its inclusion, educational offerings, wrap-around services and uplifting environment.
Having a community space that is accessible to the South Madison Community was one of the key takeaways from an initial community survey when the Goodman South Campus project was launched. Dr. Daniels answered this request by ensuring that the Goodman South Campus was designed to reflect the South Madison culture and includes a space for public use.
The beautiful community rooms boast a capacity of an excess of 200 people and is available for community events. This space is frequently used by community organizations, particularly here in the South Madison corridor.
The Scholars of Promise program at Madison College provides low-income recent high school graduates in the Madison College district area the opportunity to attend Madison College with tuition and fees covered for up to 6 semesters. By removing financial barriers, Scholars of Promise is making our community’s college accessible to all students who meet program standards and are willing to commit to the program’s requirements. These students might not otherwise have been able to seek higher education. Promise students receive comprehensive academic, financial, and other campus wrap around services that enhance their college experience. The program also provides a pathway to a four-year degree at UW-Madison through the Promise-to-Promise partnership where tuition and fees are fully funded for two additional years.
