Supportive2Meet a few of our award winning faculty!

Madison College 2013 Distinguished Teacher Timothy Sharpe teaches biology. He advises students to never lose appreciation for the natural world. “Never stop learning. The world is a fascinating place. Never lose your sense of adventure.” Now that’s a lesson plan!

Sociology instructor Matthew Sargent is also a 2013 Distinguished Teacher. His approach is to respect each student and help them engage in our diverse society. He believes in what he teaches, and strives to help students see the world with “compassion and humility.”

Chemistry and creative writing/drama instructor Holly Walter Kerby was named the 2012 Community College Faculty Member of the Year by the National Association for Community College Trustees, adding to the
list of honors she’s received for teaching. She is also the founder and executive director of Fusion Science Theater, which teaches children science in an entertaining way.
