The David Sandell Photography/Photojournalism Scholarship

David Carl Sandell, who passed away in Madison, WI on October 20, 2024 at the age of 85 was an avid photographer and started his professional photography career at the age of 16.

He had an illustrious 50 year career in Photojournalism at the Capital Times Newspaper, many of those years as chief photographer. His photographs won numerous National and State awards including first place from the Associated Press Editor’s Choice and Wisconsin Newspaper Association. During the Carter administration, he was under consideration for the job of White House Photographer. His family who loved him would be honored to pass on his love of photography to an aspiring photojournalist through this scholarship.
