Hart Wilmarth Global Opportunity Program & Partnership Background

Madison College has some fantastic study abroad programs and partnerships! Global Studies Abroad, which is based on a tri-national partnership, is one example. The Global Studies Abroad program involves students from Madison College traveling to collaborate with peers from South West College in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, and Käthe-Kollwitz-Schule in Marburg, Germany. The program runs annually, and the host site rotates between Northern Ireland, Germany, and Wisconsin. The seminar features an immersive exploration of international business practices through the lens of “Community Responsibility”.

The academic seminar includes opportunities for students to form international work groups which meet with local organizations that embrace community responsibility within their business practices. These visits provide students with meaningful interactions that showcase how businesses in the host country approach key issues in areas such as sustainability, social responsibility, and community impact.

2026 marks the 29th year of the program (which continued with virtual programming during the pandemic which also included a school in Qatar).  The program has served an estimated 1,100 students across all 3 countries (which includes a focus on populations who are underrepresented in study abroad programming).
