In Memory of David Villa
The Madison College Foundation joins with the community in mourning the passing of David Villa and honoring his legacy.
David was a board member of the Madison College Foundation from 2012 to 2018. He was valued foremost for his kindness, his wisdom, and the support he brought to our entire team.
During his tenure, he brought a strong, knowledgeable and articulate voice which provided leadership to the Board. His professional acumen was critical to the Foundation’s investment strategy restructure while he chaired the Foundation’s Finance and Investment Committee.
David invested in the work he believed in. Along with his wife, Jane, he established two funds:
The Jane & David Villa Scholarship Endowment Fund which will provide scholarships to Madison College students into perpetuity.
The ESL-Supported Nursing Assistant Scholarship Program which increased the skills, work opportunities, and wages for Dane County Hispanic residents.
He was also a generous and vocal donor to the Foundation’s funds and campaigns, including the successful Everywhere You Are, Madison College Matters Campaign. His leadership encouraged others to join him.
Beyond his direct work with the fundraising directives of the Foundation, he addressed the Madison College Retirees Association on topics related to the Wisconsin Retirement System.

Classes have begun at Madison College and the virtual energy is contagious. Very similarly to last semester, 70% of the courses are virtual, while classes that do have an in person component are being conducted as safely and responsibly as possible. You can watch it here.
